My beliefs as an educator :
I believe that learners should be self-motivated to learn and take responsibility for their own learning.
I believe in not just imparting clinical knowledge to them, but also in serving as their mentor so that they feel comfortable sharing their issues with me and searching for ways to improve their learning.
I believe in the development of learners through focusing on Bloom’s taxonomy of learning, in which learners not only gain understanding and remembering skills, but also become experts in analyzing, applying, and evaluating.
I believe in assisting learners in developing an interest in the lecture subject by being enthusiastic about the course content and explaining how the content will benefit them in their learning.
I believe in giving students enough time and flexibility to complete the essential work.
I believe that creating a safe environment for learners will improve their learning experience.
My teaching philosophy is as follows:
1.To serve as a professional role model by striving for excellence, integrity, and diversity.
2. To be a competent teacher who assists their students in meeting the course objectives.
3. To be skilled in interpersonal interactions, communication, and leadership.
4. To encourage learners to pursue self-directed learning.
5. To provide constructive criticism to students.
My Goals as an educator:
To transform a novice nurse into a professional nurse. It brings me great satisfaction to see a beginner nurse progress from knowing nothing about a skill to being adept in the skill.
To demonstrate caring and excellence for my learners and inspire them to do the same by making them feel appreciated and promoting class engagement.
To provide inspiration, motivation, and guidance to my learners to study as effectively as possible.
To treat my students with dignity and expect them to do the same.
To investigate areas where I can help my students improve and to examine areas where I can grow.
To help students learn better by reflecting on their own experiences. When students reflect on their experiences and share them with their peers, they gain a greater comprehension of the subject.
To develop relationships with my students so that they feel a connection with me, which aids in the creation of a learning environment for them.
To analyze my learner’s learning styles and come up with content based on those learning styles.
To elicit my students’ prior knowledge and experience.
To demonstrate how committed I am to lifelong learning and how I plan to apply my own learning in other areas. Sharing these experiences energizes learners and helps them become lifelong learners.
When assessing students’ learning, I hold students accountable for completing assignments on time. If they are unable to complete it by the deadline, I request that they contact me and request an extension. This is the expectation from me to prevent receiving late feedback on those assignments. Wherever I observe students struggling, I coach them. It is also vital to follow up with learners early in the course if they are not meeting the educator's expectations to discuss ideas for development rather than waiting and letting things improve itself. I also urge students to participate in class discussions, and if I notice somebody not speaking up or being laid back, I follow up with them to remind them of the value of speaking out and how it will benefit other students’ learning. Students also benefit from several teaching resources including case studies, articles, and role plays. These strategies foster an engaging environment in the classroom and provide opportunities for everyone to engage in conversations.
As an educator, I understand learning is limitless. I intend to pursue further continuing educational credits to help me become a more capable educator. I believe that as an educator, teaching students is simply one duty; understanding how the learning will be retained and fostering critical thinking is also crucial. Finally, I strive for excellence in teaching students how to provide the finest care possible, as well as to encourage and inspire them to reach learning objectives.
